exploring blog archives: wheredidugetthat

most of the blogs I've come across ceased blogging by the mid 2010s, leaving only a digital footprint and trove of stolen images behind. Karen Blanchard - the face behind wheredidugetthat - is one of the few who continues to still actively blog (in addition to vlogging, tiktoking, and instagramming. how she has not managed to get burned out after being a content creator for well over a decade is beyond me, but I digress.)

Blanchard describes herself as as "An Englishman in New York as the lovely Sting would put it." She got inspired to her blog after moving from London to NYC and having to figure out where the best boutiques and thrifts were. Once she found her bearings on this side of the Atlantic, she began to document her own street style and share where she'd gotten her clothes.

As an OG fashion blogger, Blanchard's archives remind me of flipping through Teen Vogue as a middle schooler, learning about the styles that were trendy and the ones that weren't. Smatterings of color blocking, bohemian lace frocks, bold skinny jeans, and top knots grace the pages of her archive, reminding me of the fashion bloggers I obsessed over in the pages of print magazines. Her style was polished with glam and grunge elements mixed in; a perfect capsule of mainstream early 2010's fashion. Take a look at some of my favorite outfits of hers below:
