Alison Scarpulla's work is nothing short of captivating. She began uploading her photography to sites like flickr back in the late 2000's and gained lots of prominence in the online photography community thanks to her mysterious, occult-inspired aesthetic. Her work can be seen across blogs, tumblrs, and pinterest accounts of yore, often without credit, but her distinct lo-fi and witchy aesthetic is unmistakably hers.
In lieu of photoshop or digital editing techniques, Scarpulla often processed her negatives with wine, acid, and smoke to get the eerie effect she desired. In an interview with MyModernMet in 2012, she cited "the Victorian spiritualism movement and the photos that came out of it" as key inspirations which is evident in her work—and makes it full appropriate for spooky season.
