wild things' forts

In October 2009, hipsters were frothing at the mouth over the big-screen adaption of Where the Wild Things Are, directed by Spike Jonze.  It's hard to overstate the influence of this movie, especially on flickr and tumblr.  When you start scrolling through old archives, you see photo after photo of teens and 20-somethings using crowns, animal masks, and other "wild" accessories in artsy photoshoots (which often, unfortunately, included native american headdresses).  It's only natural that Booooooooom.com, an internet mecca for up and coming creatives, collaborated with Weloveyouso (a promotional blog created for the release of the film), to hold a photography contest to hype up the film:

"Where The Wild Things Are is filled with references to building a world out of things from your everyday life and that’s exactly what we want you to do!  We want you to create a fort! Use garbage bags, tree branches, tablecloths, prosthetic limbs, wood, gold, whatever you got!"

I have to admit, now that sweater weather is here, the idea of building a blanket fort and hanging up some string lights seems quite cozy.  If you're feeling the fort vibes too, get some inspiration from some of these Wild Things' forts submissions below:
