While he has pretty much vanished from the internet, Christian Oldham (better known as Megazord or Info Warrior) was once a prolific up-and-coming creative with an affinity for computer and cyber-inspired visuals. He made music videos for Vaporwave pioneer Oneohtrix Point Never, did design work for The Dirty Projectors, and was once a member of Death Grips, shaping the aesthetics of their Exmilitary album.
While I'm focusing more on his personal photography this week, it's worth noting that Christian's work was way ahead of its time, borrowing from the y2k aesthetics of the early internet. But what's curious is that he has disappeared from the very thing that has shaped his work. His website redirects to a mega.nz folder with a bunch of his old files, his flickr and vimeo haven't been updated in over a decade, and I wasn't able to track down any active social media accounts. The only recent project I could find was this random vocal credit he got on a Tasho Ishi record in 2019. Is he making moves in silence? Has he retracted from digital life altogether? I'll have to keep digging to find out.
