The other day, I randomly recalled my short-lived obsession with Rachel Antonoff’s Bass collaboration. Back in the early ‘10s, “ugly” shoes like oxfords and heeled penny loafers were all the rage, probably because of hipster irony or something like that, and Rachel Antonoff took them to the next level with her quirky design sensibilities. Everything from her frilly designs to this cutesy editorial featuring The Like’s Tennessee Thomas encapsulates 2010’s twee like nothing else. I’m not sure how I feel about these shoes anymore—if I’m being honest, I think I only liked them in the first place because I was obsessed with the band that Rachel’s brother, Jack, was in (you may have heard of him). Maybe the coquette girls will bring them back since this collection seems right up their alley:
