I know the term indie sleaze is incredibly overused and devoid of meaning at this point, but there's no better to way to describe Julia Corsaro's early flickr posts. Indie acts like Mystery Jets, Florence and the Machine, and S.C.U.M. regularly make appearances in her photographs, alongside snaps from house shows and grunge-y photoshoots with GIRLCORE, the now-defunct feminist art collective she co-founded. This was the heyday of flash photography, underground discos, and ironic fashion, and Julia captures the messiness of this era in its full glory. Take a look at a few of her photos below:
